Washington’s Cherry Blossom Festival
Officials in the washington are now busy preparing for the 2006 National Cherry Blossom Festival which will be held on March 29 to April 9. The festival is expected to bring more than a million visitors to the city and pump millions of dollars into the region’s economy.

The National Cherry Blossom Festival annually commemorates the 1912 gift to the city of Washington of 3,000 cherry trees from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo to enhance the growing friendship between the United States and Japan and celebrate the continued close relationship between our two peoples.
