These ultrasonic frogs discovered in China makes them the first amphibians to be placed alongside an exclusive group of mammals, such as whales and dolphins (national geographic news).
Kraig Adler, a biologist at Cornell University found the ultrasonic frogs at Huangshan Hot Springs, a tourist destination near Shanghai. He said, “I noticed the frogs’ sunken ears and thought they must have an odd system of communication. We had no idea they used ultrasonic sounds”.

It is then reported by Feng, this frogs called “concave-eared torrent frogs (Amolops tormotus), sang like birds”.
