Travel Warning: Indonesia

Australian Government has issued a warning not to travel to Indonesia especially Maluku and Bali. There has been threats recently that terrorists will attack Indonesia.

Smart Traveller warned Australians “Do Not Travel” to Maluku and Central Sulawesi. Whereas, other locations in Indonesia has been issued “Reconsider your need to travel”

Here is what they said:

“We advise you to reconsider your need to travel to Indonesia, including Bali, at this time due to the very high threat of terrorist attack. We continue to receive reports indicating that terrorists are planning attacks against Western interests against a range of targets, including places frequented by foreigners. If you are in Indonesia, including Bali, and are concerned for your safety you should consider departing. If you do decide to travel to Indonesia, including Bali, you should exercise extreme caution.”

Not to mention, there has been re-assessment as to the Indonesian Airlines operate. Australian Government warned not to travel on airlines with Category 3 where it is unsafe to do so.

“On 26 June 2007, the DGCA announced that Garuda had been reassessed from Category 2 to Category 1 and all other airlines still operating had been reassessed from Category 3 to Category 2.”

“Five airlines assessed as Category 3 had their operating licences revoked. They were Alfa Trans Dirgantara, Aviasi Upataraksa, Jatayu, Prodexim and Pt Nurman Avia Indopura.”
