Why?

How to Get there?
For international tourists, there are many direct flight from major cities in United States as well as Europe, South-East Asia and Australia. The local flights from Beijing to Shanghai is only half-hour. There is sleeper train between Shanghai and Beijing that you can catch also.
Popular Sites:
1. The Bund
The famous location visited by tourists, known for its past and present mercantile. It is located along the west bank of the Huangpu River. Apart for the scenery, the Bund also offers new skyscrapers, including the Jinmao building, China’s tallest, and the Oriental Pearl TV tower.
2. Puxi
The Yuyuan Gardens in Puxi is famous for its beautiful old Chinese city with the tea house in the middle of a pond creates a beautiful atmoshpere, which you can’t found anywhere else. Don’t forget to visit the Chinese Bazaar around the garden along with traditional tea shops and snacks.
3. Xiantiandi development
It is located not far away from Yuyuan Gardens. The place has been rebuilt from old warren to upscale restaurants and shops. Also offers a Shanghainses museum and a restored school where the Chinese Communist Party held its first congress in 1921.
4. Religious sites
This include Jade Buddha Temple, which located to the north and the Longhua Pagoda to the south offers a succession of worship halls and extensive gardens in a slightly more peaceful setting. For Catholic religion, there is cathedral of St. Ignatius, along with the hilltop Marian shrine at Sheshan on the city’s outskirts.
5. People’s Square
It is located in the north of Xintiandi, famous for its park with vast attractions such as; displays of Chinese bronzeworks, porcelain, paintings, handifcrafts and Shanghai Museum.
Where to Dine?
As has been mentioned before, for those who prefer upscale restaurant, the Bund will be most popular area. Whereas, the area around Hengshan Road offers both noisy discos and quiet Irish pubs with gardens.
