Travelling in Bali has always been one of the best experience I had. Although, there are lots of rumours about terrorists or drugs, the views and friendly people can not be compared with other countries around the globe. There are some tips for you who love Bali and would like to go back there for your budget vacation. These include:

1. First of all, you need to bring SPF +30 sunscreen. The weather can be quite hot during summer months such as June - July. The summer months is taking longer than usual this year as there is no sign of rain this late October and it is predicted that it’s going to be hot for the next ten days up to early November 2006.

2. Always bargain the accommodation prices and use local currency (ie. Rupiah). From my experience, using the local currency can get up to 50 to 70% discount even for the 5 star hotels! If you have an Indonesian friend, call them and ask them to negotiate with the hotel because they usually can get you a better rate.

3. Always bargain for the best possible price of the goods. The local tourists usually bargained up to half-priced of the items. So, don’t be embarassed to do so.

4. Do not exchange your currency at the hotel. They are charging more fees and therefore much more expensive than outside exchange agency.

5. Try not to give too much attention for those who offer you small items such as; hats or stationery. There will be lots of kids offering you different items, once they get your attention it is quite hard to let go of them.

6. Bring a US dollars as an alternative, just for emergency purposes because some of the local shops do trade with US currency.

7. Bring plenty of water and your own hat.

8. Last but not least, always be cautious and don’t leave your things unattended.
